Strack & Van Til had built a solid reputation for high quality and outstanding customer service; however, due to the economy, price started to become the key driver for weekly grocery purchases. In order to stay competitive, the family-owned grocer needed to re- position itself in the eyes of consumers—to portray a strong image of value while reinforcing its core values. A cohesive, easy-to-understand new pricing structure along with straightforward messaging based on key competitive advantages was integrated into a comprehensive branding campaign. New photography added impact across all in-store, online, outdoor and in-home advertising and marketing materials, including broadcast, direct mail, and a new interactive microsite. The re-branding successfully presented the store in a fresh new light and strengthened the grocer’s position in the marketplace.
